Cots are recommended anytime you are using wall tents or other tents supplied by park facilities which do not close with a zipper - due to potential animals wandering through the tent at night. To discourage such visitors, no food should be eaten in or around such tents, and boys should wash hands and face before turning in.
Bug spray shouldn't be sprayed on/around tents. It can remove the tent's waterproof coating.
Whistles are for safety, not a toy. Boys should be told only to use them if they get lost or separated. Boys are also encouraged to use the buddy system and never go anywhere alone.
No alcohol (of course), no fireworks, no personal firearms, and generally no pets.
